I was just wondering what your opinions are on a kx250 or kx500 powered mojave?? Do you think it would be a real big job to rig up in the mojave chassis. The radiator is already there so thats a plus. The reason I ask is that I can have either a 250 or 500 engine for 150.00 and both need top end rebuilds but I was thinking of purchasing them for future projects and I can start modding and rebuilding the engine now and in ayear or two replace the 250 four stroke with something more interesting. I'm not sure which I will get but either way the guy has the coils and cdi boxes for both. He also has the carbs and pipes but I would probaly go after market for the pipes anyway. Isn't william yokleys quad kx powered?? Lets hear your thoughts??

It can be done with either motor if you have the time and the patience. A welder and torch won't hurt either. The only problem that you will really have to address will be the fact that neither motor has a counter balancer. You will have severe vibration problems! That is what everyone has said in the past when this subject has been brought up.

Man, I think you should go for that 500! That would be one FAAAAAAST MO!
The KX500 motor is even more powerfull than the CR500 beast.
Keep up updated.

Actually, and not to take away from your post mind you, but the CR500 has 55HP versus 54HP for the KX. It doesn't sound like much but the CR also holds its power for 400RPM longer than the KX.

And as far as the modifications go, not like you would need them, the Honda is much easier to find hop up parts for.

But I completly understand you wanting to stay green with the engine. It gives a machine more personality if your engine and frame are from the same manufacturer.

Also, I should mention that it wouldn't take much to overcome the power difference between the two engines. On a two stroke engine, just the type of fuel you run will give you that 1 lost pony. LOL

Yeah I guess the 500 would kick some serious butt but I do need to find a way to help the vibration problem. Anyone know how to find a balancer or a way to keep the vibes down???

It would be better with the Ninja 500 motor. It bolts right up. With all the electronics it's a bad beast.
