Prairie 650 Choke Not working correctly, again
#1
I know many of us have had the choke lever replaces on the Prairie 650, me included. It's now been about two months since I had it replaced, but now a new problem has developed. I was riding Sunday and found the only way to keep the Prairie running correctly was to put the choke about 1/3 on ( on from fully open, or no choke). The weather was colder but not nearly enough to case that, it was acting like it did when I had it replaced seem to be running rich. Maybe it's just come loose somewhere and needs only an adjustment this time. Has anyone else had this happen? What did it take to fix it?
Thanks

Lo I'm new to this forum but i just bought a 650 a couple of weeks ago . I dropped by the dealer today and he hadn't even heard about the choke problem other than the rerouted all the cables on the ones they sold.
He said this cured any problems they had with em.

Hi Bigwave, if they simply replaced the choke cable with the original style then I am not surprised you are having problems again. I finally got mine fixed last week and I'm sure its for good this time. First of all they put on a redesigned cable which has a boot covering where the cable turns from 1 into 2 so dirt can't get in and jam up the cable in the sheath.
Secondly they installed "MUCH MUCH" stiffer springs in the plungers. My dealer showed me a comparison between the new and old springs and the new ones are almost twice as long and have thicker coils. They use the original plungers but replaced the springs.
EXT, I would have your dealer contact Kawi to get the part #'s for the new cable and springs because they are in fact OEM parts, but their Microfich (spelling) will only list the old parts.
Now my choke is so tight it almost feels as though the lever might break off but it hasn't yet.
Even if the lever was to break it would be a small price to pay for no carburation problems FINALLY!!!!!
