I've heard people putting a jet kit in their quads that have no mods. Should you jet your quad even with no mods for the climate that you live in? So I guess all quads come with the same jets from the factory, kinda like a middle ground,so the quad would run anywhere fairly good.

I don't think you need to worry about it under 4000ft. How's your quad running in your climate? That will probably give you a better answer than anyone here.If your not sure, just pop the plugs out and have a look.

I live pretty much at see level, but I'm thinking about a complete K@N kit.I've got a slight part throlle hesitation or stutter I've noticed.Anybody out here tried just a K@N setup?

Kingmort, thanks for the input. My quad runs fine, but I'm the kind of person that can't leave nothing alone,I always think it should run better. The phrase "don't fix it,if it ain't broke" sure doesn't apply to me.

Kingmort...I am kind of like TrailHog, I like to fix what isn't broke. I had a couple of friends get 650's after riding mine so i had to try to make mine quicker. I have the K&N Jet kit and Filter. I am still playing around with the needle and jet settings to get the most out of my 650.

Encore454,,,How are you making out with the k@n kit?Has it made a noticeable difference in bottom end and throttle response?I had a dynojet kit and uni filter in my 500 Quadrunner,,,it made it a little snappier on the very bottom , but that was all that I could tell.

Kingmort...I am still working with the jets and needles. I started with the recommended 128/132 jet combination with the needle in the 5th slot. I have tried several combinations. Tonight I put the needle in the 6th slot to help with the bottom end and have the 130/134 jets in it. I am still testing. I have a friend with a stock 650 and each time i make a change I race him to see how it is. I can just out run him and I am 45lbs havier than him so I know the jets and filter help.

Yeah, Encore, I see you have bigger tires, and if you can still beat your friend on stockers, you are doing good things with the K&N and jet kit.

Does a GPS unit tell you sea level also?

Trailhog, a GPS basically gives you your position on the earth, Lat/long and elevation. It updates position at set intervals, I think mine is every tenth of a second. It is from that info they calculate speed, direction and all the other things they'll do.(I don't have it all figured out yet, likely never will)

Anyway, to answer your question, yes.At sea level the elevation would read zero on a GPS.

Sorry 'bout being so long-winded.
