guys, i appreciate all the help, but from what I can tell (i.e. 3rd, 4th, or 5th notch) it seems more like an experiment for each ATV. I did put mine in the 5th notch with screws out 3 turns. It now hesitates at firts stab at throttle and roughens up as rpms increase. I found it ran best without the filter out and five 7/16" holes in the air box lid. Now that I know it is rich, I have to try to adjust. Could it be my jets are too big?

Coolinthewoods

Hello just following your progress with the jets and and air box setup. How did you get your mods for your bike I ask this because Being in Alberta which is closer to suppliers in the lower states than say you in Alaska. My dealer is really sluggish in respects to mods for the Kawi and I give him names and numbers of manufactures from these forums and when he gives me a price thats extreme to say the least. For me to order something from the states I practiclally have to give my left nut, bend over and well you can picture the rest. Do any other Canadians out there experience the same problems and if you have some advice I would really appreciate it. I love my quad, its the best money I have ever spent for relaxation and being able to get out it is wonderful. I'm not sure what the trade agreement is between the States and Canada but something has to change.

Getting back to the subject does your instructions say anything about jetting for altitude being around 3000ft-3500ft. You also have the HMF pipe and how do you like it, is it loud or can you silence it without losing to much power? Thanks Coolinthewoods and anyone esle who can help.

The dynojet instruction include recommendations for the different altitudes. It will get you close, but the rest is up to you. As for the HMF, it gives a nice rumble at idle, but it is definitely louder when you get on the throttle.

Hey Encore454, Well I jetted it this morning and took it for a short ride, its better but it back fires a little still, but that might be from the open baffel exhaust. Thanks for your help. Jesse aka Coolinthewoods

coolinthewoods, I don't know much about it, but a Dirt Wheels article recommends increasing your idle mixture strength 1/4 turn at a time until the backfire goes away. That is if it backfires when you chop the throttle and use the motor to decelerate. If you get as far as 4 turns out with the same problem, then go up one size with the pilot jet and start again with the mixture screw out 1-1/2 turns. I guess these are just general jetting instrucions and but they may not work for you.

Jesse...Do you know if anyone is making a dual exhaust for the 650? I still have stock but if there is much gain in exhaust I would like to try it. Is your HMF a bolt on or complete pipe? Encore454...AKA Robert

Robert-I have not heard of any dual exhaust yet for the 650. soon maybe.
My HMF is a slip on, you can gain a few more horse's with a slip on and a few more with a full system.
