If you stop midstream, you sink.

I stopped while going down a stream to back up because it was getting too deep, and the water in the exhaust made the engine die. So my buddy pulled me back out. Got the belt wet, but it dried fairly easy. I did not get water in my airbox.

I don't know if anyone cares, but the 28" mudzilla's make the 650 have better clearance than my friend's 660. He always tries to go where I got stuck and gets center hung even sooner, or can't make it as far. Also, I have seen lots of places he spins a lot or gets stuck where I don't. But, I can't have any fun going fast anymore, these tires are too much work to keep going straight while going over 45, and I can't jump very well anymore. But, they love MUD MUD MUD!

Just curious if you have figured out where the water got to your belt from. Have a new 650 myself and have do not know the exact route the plumbing takes for the clutch venting. I found the airbox intake up by the radiator filler. I will be taking mine in deep water as soon as the snow melts around here. I think I read on a post of someone being up to the racks and not having any trouble in which case you look to be in a bit less deep water but took on some water. Any thoughts?

The venting is behind your airbox about mid height of the Airbox itself. If you were to remove the plastic covering the airbox (false tank) you would find it about where the seat meets the box, under the battery. It's opening however is about the height of the frame rail on the left side of the quad. I found it when installing my winch. I thought about modifying mine to where the opening is the same hiegth as the airbox.

The belt trip switch on the belt drive cover is not sealed. Water could have leaked in through that. The quad was actually in deeper that the picture shows for a moment, maybe it got water over the height of the belt drive vents.
I plan to seal up that belt trip switch anyway.
