I have a 95' KLF 300 4x4. I currently have 25' swampers all around, it handels them ok. I would like to put 26" Mud Buggs w/ ITP alum. rims. What can I do to get more power to handle the taller tires. I heard about using the Lakota cam, does anyone have a torque grind cam for the Bayou 300. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Rob, all aftermarket Bayou cams I'm aware of, as well as the Lakota cam, provide more power on the top end, perhaps even less at the low end.

I'd think you could turn larger tires by using a lower gear or low range. My webcam (grind 40a) in my Bayou has adequate low range pull and an noticeable and measurable difference at the high end (I have stock size tires).

Doug Blackburn put a webcam 40a in his KLF 300, piped it, and ran great humongous monster TrailBreaker tires; he might comment on the cam's effect when running oversized tires.

Rob,
I was told by a friend at Midwest Action Cycle that the Lakota cam is not compatible. I ran a WebCam (same grind as Tree Farmer's), a Cobra exhaust, K&N airfilter and an oil cooler. With all these goodies, Tree Farmer still had more top-end speed than I did. The difference? Jim runs stock tires, I ran 25" McCreary's. If I still had my Bayou I would strongly consider going back to stock size, but aftermarket tread. If you're hellbent on the big meats, you should probably throw a top end on your Bayou even if you want to maintain your original power and speed- much less improve it.
