Sounds like a ring job is needed. A compression test would be a good idea first.
I seen this posted in a different thread with some others that have the same problem.
The feller who mentioned black smoke is rich, blue is oil, and white is antifreeze was correct.
many want to believe if you see blue smoke this is a indication of needing new rings, in my exsperiences most of the time it means it needs new valve seals.
When a engine needs new rings it usualy does like you guys are saying, at first it tends to get rich then the exhaust starts puffing black smoke through out the RPM range, and then you find blue smoke in there when you lay some gas to it.
When your machine puffs out some blue when you start it it is all most deffinately valve seals. Trouble shooting yours is kinda tough because it appears you may have missed a couple earlier tell tale signs.
Good luck

MojaveKid,
Gaff, I have been really busy, but still tring to ride every weekend. The lakota is doing great.
Gaff sounds right to me. My froends have Mojaves and one of them had the same problem as you. it turned out to be the rings. Check in your air box under the seat to see if it contains oil (there is a drain plug you can remove to see if oil leaks out). When there is piston-ring blow by, the excess oil runs through the pvc tube from the motor to the air box. If your air box contains a lot of oil, it is probably your rings. Hope this helps.
