I just put my ITP 589's on my 650. They look and feel like they would chew holes in cement but I think I probably shouldn't have gone so tall. I put 27x9x12 on the front and 27x11x12 on the rear. I haven't had a chance to go for a speed run yet my back fields still have to much snow in them. But I feel that I might have lost alot of the peep that the 650 is famous for. Have any of you out there with this set up noticed any dramatic difference in you machines performance? If so let me know how you feel and if you think you should get another type of tire. And last but not least, how much air pressuer do you put in your 589's?

I bet I would gain power with those tires.

I don't have 27" ITP 589's, but I have bigger, heavier 28" mudzilla's, on heavy steel wheels. I think you got a really good tire, you just lose acceleration with bigger diameter.

I can't jump as well now. The pep is reduced, as you said, but probably more so with my heavy tires. It is not bad. I really don't mind

But, I have been spanking lots of IRS quads in the mud (until they get tall aggressive tires too).

A friend of mine just got 27" mudrunners, and I think he experienced the same differece in performance as you did. He said the umph was gone, and maybe a little high speed handling was gone too.

Get some perf mods to get your performance back, or get some more wheels so you can changin back and forth(I do it).

I am looking at the maxxis bighorn. Looks like a pretty good tread for the dry season.

I have noticed a little difference when it comes to medium range speed. But I raced my other 650 with stock everything. We were really even off the line, then he pulled on me, and at the top end, I caught up again and passed. I do have a Big Gun pipe on, so that is helping a whole lot. We did a little dirt throwing contest as well with them. We held down the front brake, in 2wd of course), and flored it. My tires threw dirt a good 5-7 feet further than the stocks. These things just really eat into the ground. I keep mine is 4wd most of the time, to keep it from tearing up all of my yard.
