When I slightly hit the gas on my 650, it sounds like the driveshaft has some play in it. Could that be? Does any one else have a small noise like this? I can only hear it if I hit a jump or hit the gas quick on take off and let off. I've never had a shaft driven machine before, so I don't know it's sounds yet. Think I should take it to the dealer before I go on any big rides?
Thanks

Forgot to say that the noise comes and goes. It is not always present.

There is an audible click due that is caused by gear slack in the trans. It is normal.

You can hear it more in low range. You can also hear it when the quad is off, in low and you rock it back and forth.

If your click turns into a ratchet or a grind, the the shifter is out of adjustment.

Thanks nyroc. That is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for the quick response.

BTW, did you decide on tires yet?

No, The tire search haunts me and I can't sleep at night. I sent an email to maxxis complaining about them not having enough sizes for the bighorn, and they said they would make more sizes after enuff people purchased the 25" sizes.

I want a lightweight 26" or 27" tire that comes in 8" and 10" wide, don't want agressive tread. There isn't anything.

I already have aggressive tires, and I really like them, but I have to take them off in the summertime. I noticed that my mudzillas grab gooshy mud better than mudrunners, but they probably don't do anything else better. I almost can go upstream on a flat rock stream bed with moss on it, even in 4x4, with mudzilla. They just don't grab anything hard. They grab grass, loose dirt, heavy snow, crusty snow, smaller logs and branches. They can't grab hardpack, rocks, and big logs.

Mine does this also. It does sound bad especially in low. I also noticed it when mudding in low range testing out my new 27" mudrunners this weekend. Scared me a little.

If you coast down a hill while the engine is not running you'll hear alot gear noise.
