I still love mudzilla for the mud, they handle good overall, but heavier than gators.

The tires I plan to buy are 26" Sur traks on the rear (10" wide, 21lb), mixed with a 26" mudrunner on the front (8" wide 23lb).

trx450 used 26" spider tracks in front, which is a good idea, but I wanted a little bit muddier of a tread. Plus the 26x9 mudrunner is lighter than the spider trac.

I was thinkin of 26" bearclaws in front, but they are 26" lbs.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I love it!!!! It's always good to hear a story about our beloved 650s. A few weeks ago, a bunch of us went out riding. My buddy has a huge mudhole at his place so we thought we would give it a try. Needless to say, we all got stuck and took turns pulling each other out. One friend of mine has a 700 Polaris and when he got stuck, you should have seen his belt start smokin!!!! I decided to try the same spot where he got stuck and wound up gettin stuck too. But when I roosted on it, there was no belt slippage at all. Just mud flying in all directions!!! I didn't move at all, but there was sure a lot of terra-firma in the air!! My buddies were dying laughing!!! They pulled me out and we all tried it again. We had a hoot!!

Northarkie,

It was in fact a 300 Explorer. It was old as heck and ran rough but ran. Not bad acceleration either.

You are right, that other guy is wrong. They don't make the 300 Explorer now, but they did back in 98 and below. Polaris had a lot of different named quads with similar engines and just a few differences back then, before they narrowed down the field.

Sportsman 500 4x4
Explorer 500 4x4 (no headlight pod or rear rack extension)
Magnum 425 4x4
Magnum 425 2x4
Sportsman 400L
Explorer 400L 4x4
Express 400L 2x4
Explorer 300 4x4
Express 300 3x4
Trail Boss 250

They dumped a lot of them when they came out with the:
Magnum 500 4x4
Expedition 425 4x4
Sportsman 400 4x4 (425 engine)
Expedition 325 4x4
Magnum 325 4x4

In essence, they did away with a lot of the 2stroke utilities they used to make.

Make no mistake though, there was indeed an Explorer 300.

No joke! You wouldn't want to line up against that quad unknowingly. He's done some major stuff to it, and it will flat out run from what I hear.

i am seriously considering a turbo charger set-up. i think if i had a turbo and some other *minor*(heehee) mods i would leave him in the dust.

Even if you put just a pipe on those 400's, you will have a hard time keeping the front end down, trust me, I know, my buddy has 2. That motor is awesome, but in the right chasis, it can be a bad quad, and not in a scrambler frame, now a 400ex frame, that would be sweet.

I can't say enough good things about my P-650 experience. No problems so far, the bike is still pretty new 33hrs., 240 miles or so.
I just love all that power, and the handling. It suits my riding style to a "T"!

my rear tires are pretty worn(hmm wonder why) and they have leaks. anyways, its fun to go riding on dirt roads with them aired down to like 2psi cause i can be going 45 around a corner and do some wicked powerslides.
