#1
KNOWSALOT, give us the facts behind the "alliance" or "sharing" of products between Kawasaki and Suzuki as only you can do!
I am especially curious as to what it holds for the ATV lineup of both lines, but there seems to be a lot of interest in dirt bikes too.
Impart your vast knowledge to the humble masses who need your guidence.
Your humble Florida friend, bobcatv8

Hey bobcatv8. Looks like the other guys gave up on me.
Stop it meanie greenies....your hurting me.....LOL!!
From what I have been told by both Suzuki and Kawasaki reps [we carry both lines] is that Kawasaki tends to keep it's share of the sportbike market and do it alone.
REGARDING ATVs:
Kawasaki will be producing it's own "new model" ATVs that were in R&D BEFORE the aliance, but no further R&D will take place. What this means is that if Kawasaki offers any new ATVs this year that THEY built......they will be the last. Future "new model" ATVs will be built by Kawasaki, but designed by Suzuki. Models like the Bayou line and current prairie line will remain built by Kawasaki and Suzuki also has it's hands in it if they determine to use the machines in their own linup.
REGARDING DIRTBIKES:
Right now, they will only share machines that are for trail use and the mini class of motocrossers. The KX80,KX125, and KX250 will be Kawasaki designed and built and used exclusively in the Kawasaki lineup until it's known otherwise.
STREETBIKES:
Both Kawasaki and Suzuki will share platforms from all categories and classes.
SPORTBIKES:
This category, at Kawasaki's request, is to keep COMPLETELY seperate from the Suzuki lineup. No sharing of platforms or parts. Each is designed, built, and sold, through each's own dealer base.
Most of this was just known as of last week. Each month that passes by makes me wonder if Kawasaki doesn't plan to abandon the offroad world all together. They seem interested in the sport bikes, but nothing else.
I figure that by 2005, there will be amny more differences between the two. Suzuki has alot to gain in the off road division and Kawasaki has alot to gain in the street bike division. the next three years are going to be interesting.

Thanks, KNOWSALOT. Once again you come through.
To all the doubters of your knowledge, PPPPTTTTHHHHHH.
I have learned when you need the facts, call on the man with the insider knowledge, his handle tells the story.
One more ??? if I may "bug" you. Specifically, what's the scoop on the Kawi version of the Z-400? Price, availability time frame, feature differences, etc.?
Thanks again, bobcatv8
