Well some how a stick got into the radiator fan and busted several blades and also busted the plastic hub portion of the fan so that now it wobbles and rubs. No big deal right! Wrong!!! All it needs is a new plastic fan, the fan motor is fine and all the mounting hardware is fine. All I need to do is take the nut off that holds the fan on to the fan motor shaft, remove the busted up plastic fan and put on a new one. Well guess what, those bastards at Kawasaki don't sell the plastic fan by itself, probably 30 or 40 bucks. No, you have to buy the whole damn thing, plastic fan, motor and all for 280 bucks. So lets see if I buy the whole assembly for 280 then I get my plastic fan but I also get a motor that I do not need. Sorry for the strong words but this pisses me off. We spend 7 grand on an ATV and then those bastards have the nerve to rip us off on these parts. Just like those 80 to 100 dollarbelts that seem to wear out 10 seconds after you put them on. Anyway, does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to keep from paying 280 for a plastic fan. Thanks.

Check and see if one off a bike would work. We have a ATV/motorcycle place around here that buys wrecked bikes and ATV's You might be able to get one therou a place like that that would work heres the place I get the stuff at try here . If they won't ship to you let me know and I will get it and ship it to you If they have one that would work.

thats a good idea, monte.

swoopman, I mounted an aftermarket electric fan on my f150, to save gas cuz it doesn't need a fan unless towing in july (I use a thermoswitch). I bet I could find a small enough aftermarket fan for 50 to 100 bux and make it work. I would at least be happier about not paying 280.

I am glad you told us this. I will be very careful with the fan.

Too many more overly exepensive parts like that, and it could drive a guy to change brands.

My brother had to buy his entire shifter assembly for $310 on his 400, but he only needed a $20 part.

I hate when they do that.

Another reason to buy the extended warranty and insurance. I'd better send off that paperwork. :-)

swoop, I noticed that permacool has an 8" dia fan, that needs an 8x10 mountong area. I did not measure, but I think that would be the easiest thing to make work unless you find a motorcycle fan cheaper.

You can get permacool fans from www.permacool.com (call em) or the local parts store might have them or be able to order them.
