Greasing your 650

How does everyone do it and when and with what?

you put the end of the gun in the zerk, i do it every 300 miles, i use a grease gun???isnt that what your susposed to use wit grease in it?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

Ha. Yeah, I know about a grease gun, I saw one on television before. I meant with regular axle grease, lithium grease or what? I have heard some say lithium grease is the best, others shy away from it. Guess I just wanted some opinions!

Conman-are you trying to open up a big can of worms.You might as well ask what is the best motor oil or what is the best tire to run.I personally like BG red multi-purpose grease.It is supposed to be the best stuff since pre-sliced bread.They probably use it on the space shuttle.However, you want to use the multi-purpose grease of your choice.I haven't been able to find very many grease fittings on mine.It's been a little while but I only remember finding about 2 fittings on the whole bike.Most everything is sealed.

The 650 manual doesn't tell you to grease anything. Just change filters, fluids.

I thought it was totally sealed ..no zerks on this machine..someone trying to be funny or what??

Like I said it has been a while.I thought I remembered finding a couple on the front end.Too beat up from riding all day to go out and look.I could be wrong and maybe there aren't any.

There are no grease fittings from the factory. Did you install some on the suspension bushings in the front?
