Ok, a couple of questions:

If I install a lift kit, will I need to make any adustments concerning the drive shaft or front CV joints?

Also, with the addition of a lift kit, will any engine re-tuning need to be done if I am just going up an inch or two in tire size?

Lastly, I read one time that lift kits (for whatever reason, I don't remember exactly what I read) cause engines to run hotter. Any comments on that?

Thanks!

Chucky

Check with Highlifter and see what they have to say about it. I guess it all comes down to how high you go.

If you install a lift kit, you will have to reset your toe-in on the front end. You won't have to do any engine mods if you don't want to. You do lose power by going up in tire size, but it is not catastrophic. Lift kits won't make your engine run hotter, but running bigger tires will, as it takes more juice to turn those big meats. I'm done.

The big downside to running lift kits is that they cause increased cv joint angles. The increased angles causes more wear n tear on the drivetrain. I run 27" 589's without a lift. I've heard of people running 28" tires as well without a lift.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I am going to install 26" tires on the factory rims. Sounds like I am going to be ok, and probably better off without a lift kit.

Thanks again all!

Chucky
