Nyroc: Driven Spring Question(s)
#11
Roar: I am not sure if this is going to help you or not but the buttons come out by using a thin flat blade screw driver, reaching through the shaft hole from the stationary sheave side. On the buttons there is a small circular groove for the screwdriver to grab onto to do this. You have pop out these four buttons to seperate the two sheaves....... MJSTX

MJSTX, go HERE and have a look. You better have a big checkbook cause when you look at the price, convert it to Canadian funds and throw in shipping, DAMN!!!!!. I also got the variable heat controller but would not recommend it as I find I usually have them either cranked wide open, or off. For the extra cost, it's just not worth it. They are fairly bulky grips, but I've got huge hands so they suit me just fine. When I bought mine they were $90 U.S., but they are $110 U.S. now. You do the math!!!(YIKES!!!)

MJ, forgot to mention what I thought of them. I put mine on last Feb. when I bought my 650 so they got put to good use right away. They work awesome! I have had my gloves completely soaked and my hands were still warm. Make sure you get a tube of the epoxy they sell on their website. It only costs $3. Just do what the instructions say and you will have no problems with the install. IMO they are worth the money. I have a few friends who have the Kimpex ones, you know, the ones that look like a thin electrical grid that you put under your original grips, well they are crap. Nuff said.

Roar, my tech tips suggest you use an impact wrench to remove the nut that holds the entire pulley on. This avoids having to get the special tool that fits in two of those three holes you mentioned and holds the pulley still (holds it still shile you use a breaker bar to get the nut off).
After the pulley is removed, you take it apart by compressing it and removing a circlip. The buttons are way inside the bore of on of the sheaves. You will see them by investigating inside the hole where the shaft was after you get the pulley off.

Thanks MJSTX and nyroc, I'll do as suggested, I did use a impact wrench to remove the driven clutch, and may of beena able to figure out the button deal, but it was getting late, and I had to have the machine for the next day.
Gotta ride you know, even if it does squawk. Thanks again
Go forth and ride.
