I have just finished breaking in my new machine, and am ready for some performance modifications to keep ahead of my buddies riding the '02's. (Yeah, Mitch and Joe, I'm talking about you.)

I ordered a K&N Air Filter, K&N Carb kit, and a HMF Slip-On exhaust, and was assured by the dealer that, while these parts were listed for the '02s, that they would work great on the '03 model. Well, he lied! The Air filter is totally different as is the exhaust. (No need to even think about rejetting until I get the other problems resolved.)

QUESTION: Does anyone know of any manufacturer who is offering any of the abovemention modification for the '03 models?

PrairiePuppy
I've been looking all over for a filter for on '03 with no luck, I did not know about the slip on but thanks that will keep me from ordering one. If I find anything I'll drop ya a line.

Horseman,
FYI, I have fired off an email to K&N inquiring as to their plans, if any, to offer an air filter for the '03 and received an automated repy, saying that they will get back to me when they get around to it. I also have sent a similiar inquiry to HMF with no response as of yet. I will keep you and this forum posted as to the results of these and other inquierys.

PrairiePuppy-I think you are maybe being a little unfair here. If this was a legitimate dealer that you bought this stuff from there shouldn't be a problem with returning it. I think this was all an underhanded attempt to get a jump on your ridin buddies and slackin on the cash end of the deal and trying to buy some cheap mods. Must run in the family!Besides, you know that will void your warranty.

I knew the air filter was different but what is different with the exhaust? I don't like hearing this because it may make getting parts for the "02" version hard to get aftermarket parts for being only made for 1 year!!!!!

Hey Partsman,

Mrs. Green said, "Whenever you get a chance to ride faster than your buddies, you'd better do so, no matter what the cost!"

Better hope that your frt. brake pads are the same as '02, I had NO LUCK finding aftermarket pads about a month ago. All the parts places just didn't have them to sell, at that time. I had to spend almost $100.00 for frt. pads at the freakin' dealer!!!

I wonder how much more was changed it may be bad for the 02 models in that they will stop making stuff for them and go with the present machine. Does any one know what is different with the exhaust????
