I went to grease the collar that joins the front output shaft to the front differential via a splined shaft but noticed that I may have bigger problems than a dry spline.
I seem to have play in my front differential pinion bearing because if I grab the propeller shaft and move it back and forth it has what seems to be excessive play at the front diff end.
There also seems to be a small amount of oil leaking from the oil seal on the pinion although I have yet to get any water in it...
Has anyone else had any problems in this area and if so did you have to replace the pinion bearing and seal or what.
This sucks!!!
Any advise would be extreamly appreciated.

Being from Nova Scotia don't you have a KVF650 same but not. Have you tried cutting the boot to see properly, a boot is pennys you can always replace. You must see to now for sure, if a seal is leaking you must take apart anyway or let your dealer do it. Have fathe in yourself get a manual once you get a little dirty you will appreciate doing the work yourself. Paying for parts is one thing labor cost is another and what if it doesn't work right then back to the dealer. OOOOOOh more exspense I don't now if this helps but feed back is always helpful.

Alltoys, KVF650A1 is the model number of the Prairie 650, everyone just calls it Prairie or P650 just to simplify things.

Yeah I have a service manual and consider myself quite mechanically inclined.
I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or has anyone actually checked?

Muddhound I did not now the bikes from the states had the same style number as the ones in Canada I assumed they were different to keep the records straight as in Automobiles. I have only seen the "P" number associated with American bikes and not with Canadian models so you might see my assumption. I stand corrected thank you. Mind you I have found out the rev limiter on the Canadian models are lower than the ones in the States and I can substantiate it. My bike as well as others up here will only hit 5800rpm tops and the timeing will only read 26 degrees at 5000rpm then decreases substantialy as does yours. Do we have enough power as it stands, sure we do especially for the bush you can only go so fast. Lets face it the " P 650" is not a raceing machine although I intend to put it to its full potential with Bearmans and Penlands help come the newyear. I have set new ground work with the nitrous set up only because of my shop built dyno. I am not the smartest individual around and there are a lot of people out there that can show some new things especially with engine modifying. What I don't now there are lots of books that go into detail and if that doesn't work I ask noligeable people like yourself and others. If I can help at all let me now I will glad to have fun take care!!!!
