Default P650 Clutch

I had an idea here the other day that i have been thinking about. I checked my clutch to see if it shifts 100% and it doesnt. Is there a way to add different weights to the primary clutch to get it to engage fully or maybe a slightly weaker spring in the clutch? I know this would slightly effect my engagment rpm but there is a little hesitation any way. Plus i could turn the idle down slightly also wich would halp. I guess i wanna try this but need to know where to get the different weights and or spring. Any help would be appreciated

Default P650 Clutch

I use adjustable weight on my p650 that we pull with (ATV pulls) I had to go with lighter weight because we were running 4 pitbull ll, these tires are monsters. they are 31" high and 12" wide, we run them on all four wheels.

We found while pulling, our rpm were way down. so I bought adjustable weight from thunder products, These are weight they use on comet clutches on snowmobles. My stock weights (4) weighted 58 grams and we had to go down in weight to 28 grams to get out rpm back to 6500 which is where the pike horse power is. I had to do a lot of grinding to get them to work, but I understand that so of the lighter Polaris weights will work with some grinding on the end.

To answer your question, no one that I know sells them yet, yes other can be made to work, if they fit comet clutches by grinding. When I put the small tires back on, look out. the engine goes wild. the weights are so light the rpm seem like they go out of sight. The problem with this is at 5500 RPM the timing is retarted and kills the power.

I can hardly wait until 1bearman get his CDI box out, it will stop the timing thing and he has raised the rev limitor up 1,000. then I can try the lighter weights.

I hope this helps. When 1bearman gets the CID box, you'll see someone make adjustable weights that will work, (without grinding). I'm suprised someone hasn't already done it to conpersate for bigger tires.

His tires can be seen on Nyroc's website. Go to the Prairie650 section, near the last picture. There are two of them, and a picture of heartbreaker (sled).

The tires are actually stamped 26-12-12, but they measure 31" high and 12" wide. (Rules says 26-12-12 are max).

They were designed to go up against the Cepek tires that are uses on mini modifieds, they run about $250 each after tax and shipping.

You can buy the tires @ www.millertire.com/, but unless you're pulling I wouldn't recomend them, (running on top of water maybe), I run vamp's on the trails.

Maybe you'll see the tires, (us) in a magizine article, Mickey Dunlap, (Four Stroke Tech), wants us to bring out machine and pull sled to Pa. to do any article for a major mag. He wants to do motor work, 750cc for the article. I'm probably going to wait until 1bearman gets his CDI box out, Diamond G racing wants to sponsor us next year and it would be good advertisement for him and for the p650.

Have fun in the mud!!
