Default skid plates and covers

I am thinking of getting a prairie 650 and a friend of mine strongly suggested skid plates when I buy it. Does everyone concur? I will be using it for work AND play! Also, are the skid plates from kawasaki good or should I buy an aftermarket brand?

pilothouse,

I just put the ricoche skid plate on mine. It fits like a glove and is one of the cheapest. $95 for the full chassis. I highly reccomend one. I put a hole in the oil pan on my last quad while hunting. Sure wouldn't want to do that on this baby!

Thanks trailburner,
Sounds like my kind of price. I've looked and can't find a website to see one. I assume it's aluminium, how thick is it? Where can I find them?

The only skid to buy. Got my first set and will NEVER buy any other again.

Gaff,
That stuff looks great but it doesn't look like they have skid plates for a prairie, only kawaski's sport quads. Anyone else, are these a must buy when buying a quad? Thanks for the input.

just call them, I'm not sure but I think they make them for the prairie.
Skids are a must. Can't tell every body enough that you need them.

What's wrong with the 650's factory skids??? I have beat and banged mine relentlessly and still haven't put a real dent or hole in one of them.

pilot,

It is 3/16 aluminun and I love it. I wouldn't go with anything else. heres the number.
866-273-1197

they are also sold on rockymountainatv.com but I think they are more expensive. Try the number. They sent it to me fast and it mounts in about 20 minutes. Quicker if you know what you are doing.
