p650--How much choke when mild temp? 8^(
#1
Hello eveyone,
My new 03 p650 is great--have only 5 hrs. on it. Had a few cold days (30's) in Rhode Island, moved the choke all the way to the left--started and after a few moments close the choke. I learned not to touch the throttle lever during this procedure and it started fine. Let the p650 warm-up for about 2 or 3 mins and then its ready to go.
Now we had some 60 degree weather and I had a problems starting. First, I tried about 1/2 choke and it would not start. Then I tried less choke and finally had to use the throttle with this and it started. Tried again while it was sitting in my garage a few hours later and had more trouble starting. I'm starting to think my p650 is "warm-blooded" instead of the usual "cold-blooded".
Any suggestions would be appreciated for starting in mild (45-65 degree) temperatures. Thank you for your help and time.

My 02 P650 needs a little bit of throttle in the 45 to 65 degree range and always has since new in June of 2001. At that time, when the 650 was just starting to be available, there was a lot of talk about this on this forum. Seems as if most of the folks having this problem cured it by installing new choke cables. Would have thought that Kawasaki would have had this problem corrected by now. But then again, they have not been responsive at all to a multitude of belt/converter problems.
