Here is a copy of the e-mail that Kawasaki sent me re: free rack plastic. I printed it and took it to my dealer and they gave me the rack plastic no questions asked. Hope it helps.

Kawasaki Motors does ship a set of composite rack covers to Kawasaki
dealers when the unit is shipped to them. They are sent for the purpose
that the dealer can provide them to the customer at no cost.

It is possible that, since they are shipped separately, your dealer may not
be aware that he has received these racks. If there is any
misunderstanding, or if your dealer has not received the rack covers,
please ask him to refer to Sales Bulletin 02-09-AT.

Why are they separate? Is it a weight saving thing like the hitch?

Did someone actually pay more to have those stupid black plastic things put on?

 

I had to go back to get the free plastic covers for my 02 Prairie, but I didn't on my 03 Prairie. I heard somewhere that they made the hitch standard on the 03, but now the plastic rack covers are optional that you have to pay for. I would like to find out if that is true or not.

 

According to my dealer p650's are shipped without the hitches and rack covers on due to the japan law of 606lbs max on an atv. So to cheat it they ship the hitches and racks seperatley to the dealers and the dealers are suppose to put them on but some dealers are charging for them. They are not suppose to do that. If you didnt get your stuff go to the kawi dealer and raise heck. Call kawi. They will tell yah the same thing.

 

i had to wait three weeks for my 03 to come in and than the dealer told me that the plastic would be here in a couple of days after i picked it up. well, in a couple of days my dealer called me to tell me they are in and he didnt charge me for them. i did have to put them on myself but that was cake. if anyone had to pay for these racks i would call kawi and complain!!
