Default What are the best replacement wheels?

The original wheels on my P650 are starting to look like squares with all of the large dents in them. I've decided it's time to upgrade the wheels but can't decide between steel or aluminum. I understand that both are better the OE. I'm leaning towards the ITP Delta Series steel wheels. They say they are 35% stronger than OE and weigh about the same as aluminum and are a lot cheaper. What's the opinion about steel vs. aluminum?

Is cast aluminum more likely to break on impact where steel would bend?

As per my sig, I have the Douglas .190 aluminum wheels which I believe are spun. I have no complaints. They turn true and are well balanced. The mudrunners protect the rim well and so I have no dents at all.

I like the solid polished wheel look. Though I didn't weigh them they seem fairly heavy compared to the stock wheels.

The main reason for aluminum, in my book, is even if they aren't lighter, THEY WILL NEVER RUST like a steel wheel will when the paint or chrome chips off..... an ugly situation.

Im not sure about the breaking issue. I personally havent heard of anyone breaking one. I have the new Mud Lites and they bulge out pretty far on the sides, so it looks like htey are fairly well protected.

I have douglas .190.

I got them because I didn't like the widths and spacing of the ITP wheels. I had itp rims before, and the 7" wide fronts exposed the bead a little more to sticks poking in (even though my tires have bead protectors. Now I have 6" wide fronts and the bead protectors do a better job covering the lip of the tire and no sticks have had a chance to poke it. Also, the 28" tires I have rub LESS (in front) with the douglass spacing than they did with the itp spacing. They used to rub the outer corner of the headlight a lot. now they don't at all. Steering is easier now too.

ITP wheels look awesome (better than douglas imo), but I like the spacing choices that douglass gives you a whole lot more.

Does Douglas offer and 8" wheel and the correct offset for the 650 ? If so can you remember the part number and do you have a picture of the Douglas Wheels and what did they cost you compared to the ITP?

$525.00 is what I was quoted from East Kentucky mounted for stock tire size with Mudlites..

? I guess I made two messages, how do I delete this one?

Douglass has 8" wide (stock spacing, or very nearly so) for the back and 6" wide (stock spacing) for the front.

If you look on tread depot, you may be able to find them easily. They will be obvious, when you look for 4x137 bolt pattern, and a 4" bell the front and a 3" bell on the rear. I think the stockers are a 2.5" bell in the rear (5" nose), so the 3" bell is pretty close.

I have these:

12X8 3B+5N 4/137.190 DOUGLAS WHEEL (8" rear)
12X6 4B+2N 4/137 10MM.190 DG WHEEL (6" front)

Check EBAY for tires. Lots of deals in there. I've been looking myself, at the ATR's and the Mudlites. Am leaning toward the ATR's for my riding style.
As for wheels, I am very happy with the "C" series ITP. They have 1" POS offset, frt. and rr. (2" wider than stock track)They are strong. I have run them 9 mo., in the Appalachian Mtns. and they still look pretty good, a few dings and scratches.
