happens when in 4wd low and there is strain on the quad. Kept happening when I go up a hill. This has always happened. Anyone have any idea's??

This is normal .

 

Mine does it too, always has. I'm not sure what it is but it is always consistant. I just put a louder pipe on the bike so I couldn't hear it.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Straight cut tranny gears not only whine but you can hear the slack clank back and forth. It was porbably done this way to save weight.

 

I could see it making this noise when you are coasting, but going up a hill?

If it is the clanking sound of gears slipping, going by each other, than you need to adjust you linkage,

It happened to us, slipping under power, during one of the pulls, it made a clanking sound, then something let go, the bike wouldn't move unless you held the shifter forward in low range and we had no high range, (even though we were in low), only low and reverse.

Go to Nyroc site, he has lot's of information or check your manual, if you have one for adjustments.

As for the bike that broke, we haven't even taken it apart yet, to see what happened, it was the end of season and we have until May to deside on gear changes and or motor work.

 

Mine makes a minor creak sound when taking off in low. A lot of them do this. Don't know what it is.

If your sound is worse, it could be a ujoint. Usually a shifter out of adjustment makes a ratchet sound when slowing down in low.

 

Mine does that also, I read the instructions on your site for adjusting the shifter and it seems easy, I will try it this weekend.

If it were a bad universal joint, would it only make the noise in 4wd Low? It makes no noise at all in 4wd high or 2wd High. I am not sure if it does it in 2wd low, I hardly ever use that. I will try 2wd Low this weekend and see what happens.

Raynist, my 650 just started doing this too. I am gonna adjust the linkage in the next couple of days as I am pretty sure that is the problem. My dealer told me that the 650 is probably gonna need a shifter linkage adjustment within 1000 kms. and he was right. Looked in my service manual and it is a no-brainer.
