The KFX700 is going to have around 47 hp & 43 ft lbs of torque, so it will have plenty of power, but that doesn't really determine what it's top speed will be. You can bet that Kawasaki will put some kind of restriction on it whether it is through the Ignition or some type of Govoner to keep it safe. I would guess that the bean counters will make them limit it's speed to somewhere between 65 to 75 mph. Probably closer to the 65 mark. As you know, it's getting there that's half the fun.

You and I both know that if more speed in there, someone will figure out a way to get as much out of it as they can.

47hp out of a twin 700?? That is rather disappointing. I'm told the Polaris predator 500 is around 45hp, and the Suzuki LTZ400 is right at 42hp. And these bikes are supposively much lighter than the Kawasaki 700...

The predator was dynoed at 45 hp, and the Z/KFX, I believe is much lower than 42hp (I'm not sure what the exact hp is). The thing is, you need to look at the whole picture. The 700 V-Twin is producing those numbers at only 6'500rpm's (hp) and 4,500 ftlbs (torque). That tells me two things.

1) There is a TON of room for performance gains.
2) It tells me that this motor isn't even working hard to produce those numbers and it is going to LAST.

The 43 ftlbs of Torque is what you should be interested in. HP is what propels you once you get going, Torque is what gets you moving in the first place.

We will just have to wait and see.

You have to compare apples and apples in this case. Not all dynos are created equal, The polaris I belive was done on a dynojet which will be a little higher than other dynos...The only way to be sure is to put them all on the same dyno at the same time, temp, elevation... etc...

trinity says z/kfx are 31.1 at the rear wheel. and if the 700 will only top 65-75 that not all that great, i can get the p650 up to 70

Don't confuse What the 700 WILL top out at for what it COULD top out at. As I posted before, Kawisaki will limit the Top Speed of this Quad.

Even if it is capable of going 80 to 90mph, they will not let it. It's called "A Law Suit waiting to happen"

Unfortunatly this is what it has come down too.
