Tommy, I have 27" Mud Lites on mine and I did notice a little power difference on take off, but not enough to worry about. The Mud Lites are a little lighter than the 589's are though.

I've got 27" bi and tri claws on my 650. I did notice a little power loss... Not really anything noticeable once I take getting going, but I now have trouble doing wheelies with them installed. They want to spin a lot more. It is still very quick and I don't think you'll have a problem beating anyone. Just install the black spring and that'll give you the umph back. If you really want some additional pep, install the red drive spring.

BTW, I believe bi/tri's are heavier than 589's but I may be mistaken.

Just for the record, I love my bi/tri's they are wonderful. Only had them since monday, but I've put them through a lot of stuff so far. Even with only 6psi in them, the bike will float when in deeper water. I've already tested this by accident..

I can tell you one thing, once you take those dunlops off.. It's a totally different riding experience.. The dunlops are so terrible, it's definitely in your best interest to get new tires.. You'll love the change, I promise.

Tommy, I got 26" 589s on mine and they do rob power, but the 650 has so much to spare that it doesn't matter!! If the guys with Rubicon's and Grizzly's put aftermarket skins on their wheelers, you'll still kick their a$$ all the way to Toronto. If they don't put aftermarket skins on, race them through a big mudhole!!

I've got the 27" Mud Lites on c-series rims. They are awesome tires for sand, clay, mud, muddy-clay.... You get the picture. If you want a little more ground clearance and need the extra traction i would definitely recommend them. For me though, they are a little to big, I wish I would have gotten the 26's. I prefer the sportier feeling of the smaller tires so I'm going to order a set of Holeshot's for regular use & keep the Mud Lites for days when I when we'll be getting into messy shiat.

If you go with a 27" tire you will definitely need the black spring & most likely have to remove the shim in the driven pulley. I have an 03" & it came with the 1mm shim from the factory. I put the .6mm in this week & it didn't tighten up the belt enough. There is still to much slipping off the line (for my taste).

Good Luck.
