Default front diff filler cap

has anyone else cracked the front diff's filler plug, because i did. it has a hairline crack on it and is not useable. i heard this little snap and knew what had gone wrong. so i ordered one, but won't be in till next week. does anyone know of a temporary plug that would work, or does anyone have a replacement on theirs that isnt from kawi. if so can someone tell me where they got it.

thanks

Did you over tighten? Sorry, I don't know what to tell you.

Hmm, I am wondering if this cap is something I should get and extra one to have as a spare.

Just snug is the key to tightening filler and drain plugs.

fill it full of silicone and let it set long enough to set up this will keep the water etc out untill you get a new one.

yeh i did a search for your old post about that and found it.
i just put mine in not even a turn so it would keep stuff out, it is just that it will leak when riding.

did u just order a new one, and if u did how long did it take your dealer to get it.

when i snapped mine, i knew it happened because it started to turn easier. i dont think it screwed up the threads on the diff, did it on yours? now im paronoid over my engine draing plug and rear diff plug. do u usually tighten your engine and diff plugs pretty tight?

i just went to the dealer and they had one in stock so i got it, it was around $15, so my grandpa threw a hissy fit and we got it for fre

the reason mine snapped is because we had a crappy torqe wrench that didnt go down to 17ft lbs so we just guessed at what it would be. it didnt bust the threads in the case but it did shred some threads off the cap so we just drained the oil and flushed it out by running some more oil through it.

when i tighten my plugs i just do it by hand not with a torqe wrench and it works just fine
