Default '03 P650 Factory Recall Letter

I just got a recall notice in the mail titled "AIR FILTER ELEMENT SEPARATION AT MATING SURFACE, FACTORY DIRECTED MODIFICATION"

"Dear Kawasaki Owner,
This letter is sent to notify you that on some p650's, the air filter element may begin to separate at the seam where the foam air filter is joined together, resulting in diminished filtration performance. Our records indicate that you have bought one of these units"

Has anyone else gotten this letter, or actually had/seen this problem with their air filters? Please let me know what to look for if so. I'm going to go out and take a look at it, and just generally check for any signs of separation/cracks..

Haven't received a letter yet, but dealer said mine was on the list.
He also said something about checking it with a heat gun or hair dryer.
Maybe the glue gets soft when it picks up engine heat.
Pulled mine out and tried to pull it apart, seemed ok.

I got the letter a few weeks ago but I dont care because i just ordered a Twin Air filter.
Besides, my stock filter still looks like new.

is the bottom(side that faces the ground) of your filter element's sealing surface somewhat unevenly made? Mine is not uniform, as the black rubber lip/edge seems uneven as it goes around.

Secondly, what type of cleaner/foam filter oil are you guys using, and are you really doing the whole process every 10 hours as suggested?

I have gotten the letter, and i have the problem with the filter with my machine. the problem is that they glued the foam element to the top metal cap, and i guess it melted and is now not adheared to the top metal plate.
i think i am going to get a k and n to fix the problem.

Yamaha needs to recall every machine they have made since 85 for this problem.
