Prairie 650 software bug?
Anyone with a 2003 Prairie 650, try this test: Put the ATV in reverse and back up a moderate hill. Then while still in reverse, let the ATV roll forward down the hill and see if the braking system kicks in. The hill must be moderate enough to allow the speed for it to kick in. You can test this going down forward in a forward gear. My 2002 model tries to engage the CVT with the driveline running in opposite directions. I thought it was supposed to read the forward/reverse sensor to prevent this. Must be a software bug.

Prairie633, my 2002 does the same thing. What gives? If I am in a forward gear and roll backwards, the engine brake does not engage, but if in reverse and it rolls forward, it kicks in and almost stalls the engine? Maybe the same Kawi engineer who designed the original winch mount with the three oval holes also wrote the controller software?

Thy this idea....... take it out reverse when you are going forward??? grin
I understand ... you are just wondering why ....
Logic would sugest that perhaps there is a sensor that is reading rear clutch speed ,,,when the speed is
right it is activated ... it is not blocked out by the lever being in reverse possition.
