My tank which is made of stainless steel weighs about 8 lbs. empty and with 2+ gallons of gas about 20 to 22 lbs . An aluminum one will about 4 or 5 lbs lighter. 16 or 17 lbs is not a lot plus with the extra weight being removed elsewhere it should be a wash. This weight will be behind the axle though. HTH
