Default Need Top Speed Out of My 650/02

Been reading all your inputs and they are great, but I would like to know what I should exactly do to make it faster.
buying some mudlites but that's not for speed, Would love to know the stat on the cdi, the guys at my local dealership say not to do anything to my bike till i get that is this true.

Congrats on your first post allspeed. You only need the CDI to get speed. Due to the crappy stock CDI, you can't get much speed out of exhaust, filter, cams or the diamond G snorkle. those are the best things you can do until the CDI comes.

The CDI is coming. It has been rough for the producer to get it done, but he is working out one last bug and we should see it soon.

Default Need Top Speed Out of My 650/02

My 650 P use to run 74 mph on the speedo. Thats when the belt was squealing all the time. When I replaced the belt the play in old belt was about 3". The new belt was shimmed up tight. Around .75".

The new speed was 69 mph!, say what........................
So then I install the infamous Black Spring, K&N air filter, a good tune up and Shazam!!!!!!!!!...New top speed is 64 mph......WHAT THE !!!!!!!, But the acceleration is awesome.
.................................................. TIME TO PLAY PRAIRIE GAMES............................................. ....................

Put the old worn out belt in, stock spring, 3" of belt play, and what happens ???????????????????????

Squealing, slower take off, but 72 mph................thats right 72 mph..................................!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Out ran the Raptor that I use to 6 months ago before the mods.

So you want top speed the cheep way????????..............................Add some shims, get 3" of belt play and fly..............................
By the way I ran my old belt squealing, and loose for 662 miles in the Imperial Sand Dunes last year.

Anyone know where the speedo gets it's info? Would 3" of slack let the belt slip and fool the speedometer into a higher than actual reading?

No, the speed sensor is after the clutch/belt system.

allspeed,

Looks like the CDI might be delayed another couple of months, sorry.

However, if your actually reaching 114k, I don't think top speed is a problem.
