What tires for 650 praire? Advice needed
I have just purchased a 2003 Prairie 650 (new) and would like to run the stock rims but run ITP mud lites.
My question is this--the stock tires are 25x8x12 (front), and 25x10x12 (rear), I would like to run the 26" ITP's but there arn't any 25x8x12's listed in the ads--Why??
Are the mud lites a little better trail tire than the MS589's?
What tires/sizes will work on my stock rims---I will do about 70% trail riding and 30% mud riding and would like to keep most of the stock performance. What other tires should I consider?
ANY feedback or advice appreciated!!!
Thanks

Just put on Goodyear Mudrunners...they are awesome. They are not too rough on hard pack and they have tremendous bite on anything soft! They do cost a little more but they are run flats (nice for a quad in the woods) and with Goddyear you don't have to worry as much about some of the size problems you see with the "overseas tires".
Just another option FYI

I put 27" Dirt Devils on my P650. I retrospect I would not do that again.
They do a wonderful job in the mud ......... but .......
They are heavy .... and negativly effect the ride and performace.
The tall tires change the ratio to much .... and the stock shocks can't control
them at speed. It feels like they are "dribbling"... and the bike starts to
drift from side to side.

I'd put Gators up against MOST tires for trail and mud. They are very good on both. I have had 589's, they are heavy and rough, but good in the mud. I've seen mudrunners (never had them) and wasn't impressed with their mudding, but they aren't bad. Never had or seen Mudlites yet.
