My 87 mojave could use a little boost so i was looking around for some good mods. I thought of maby a high compression picton for my next mod what do you think. I already have a WB E-series pipe and k&n air filter but was forced to put my stock pipe back on by the police the wb was too loud. so what do you think i should do next to my mojave?

I was also thinking of putting some black maier plastic on it. what does everybody think of the maier plastic?

Thanks
Ryan

Go with the 11.5:1 Wiseco piston. DON'T buy the Maier plastic, I have black race plastic and a yellow nose piece on my 87 Mojave and it is JUNK. Don't waste your money on Maier! IT SUCKS! Buy factory Kawie plastic. Is cheaper and a lot better quailty!

I have the 11.5:1 Wiseco along with head porting and black box mod and Supertrapp IDS. I did this all at once so I can't say what just the piston did alone but all this made a huge difference. Explain what the cops did, I can't believe they didn't just impound it and give you a ticket. I second the thought about Maijer plastic.

Hey JeffKSF,

If you had to put a dollar amount to what you did how much would that be? Can you list what you did to your engine. I would like to break into mine but really don't have any guidance. What size jet are you running?

Thanks,

The Mojave already has 11/1 compression. Assuming 2 engines in good working order, you could not tell the difference between the 11/1 motor and the 11.5/1 motor. If you went with 12/1, there will be a small difference, but you will loose some reliability. If Mojave87 means you ride a '87 model Mojave, then a rebuild may be in order to regain lost performance.

I believe Wiseco makes a 12:1 piston, but you'll have to run race gas.

Depakota, I spent less then $700 I also needed 2 new valves because 2 of mine were beyond grinding those were $78. Not every motor would need new valves though. I'm running 140 main jet. I sent my head to Four Stroke Tech for the porting and valve job $200. They also modified my black box to remove the rev limiter $80. The piston was $100 with gaskets and $35 to bore the cyl. I had that done locally. I also bought my exhaust and jet from FST. Be advised most engine builders are always busy, don't expect a 2 week turn around. FST had my head for 2.5 months. I also run 50/50 mix of 93/110 octane gas. I'm also running 14 discs in my supertrapp.
