400 prairie is slipping

Default 400 prairie is slipping

HI I need some help or advise, I have a 400 Kawasaki Prairie atv and when I give it gas it slips until it gets up too a high rpm. I took the belt cover off too see if the belt is bad, but just by looking at it , It looks fine I called the dealer about a new belt but he said it would take about 5 days to get one and cost 89 $ so i have nothing too compare it with too see if the belt is striched Its is a automatic..
I hate to buy a belt just too fine out is wasnt that .. Please help if you can all ideas are welcome[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

you may just need to tighten it up and not replace the whole belt, go to Nyroc's site to check it out.

Note that the 400 belt is not adjustable. There is a teeny shim you can take out, proly won't do a lot of good.

Also note that the old style belts were recalled. If it is smooth on top, it can be replaced free under warranty.

Belts last longer with more side pressure. Get the white driven spring from EPI to increase the side pressure (a little more takeoff umph too).

I think you need a new belt. But, check to see if it is the recalled kind first. Also, put that white spring on with the new belt.

HI thanks so much my ATV is a 2002 , I took the Driven Pulley of,f it was stuck open so when I removed the clip it spring back closed. when i got it apart one of the screws from the helix towers fell out, then so did one of the helix towers the other 2 towerscrews where loose too, WOW I would have never fig this out if it wasnt for your responses, now for the fun part , Where can I buy the EPI white spring , I went too the Nyroc's Technical tips and I thank I can get it back together after I get the new spring . I want too Thank you all very much , Im not out of the woods yet but I feel better that you all have sent me in the right direction..
