Mojave Choke
#1
Went to fire up the 2002 Mojave this past Saturday, but I was unable to engage the choke on the bike?? Has anyone else had this problem?? Either the cable is shot, or the plunger on the choke is stuck?? Haven't had alot of time to tinker with it yet, but I was wondering if this is a common problem with this quad?
Thanks for your input!!

I've had a few problems with the choke on my Mojave, so here are my thoughts on what to check for.
If the choke lever will not physically move (on/off):
1. Check if there is a pinch in the cable.
2. Is the weather cold and have you washed it recently? (I had ice in my cable all winter, so it wouldn't budge)
3. Check the lower end of the cable to see if the "plunger" pushes into the carburator smoothly.
If the choke lever moves, but the choke won't engage or function:
1. Inspect the lower end of the cable, where it threads into the carb (it is only plastic). Make sure it seals good and that the threads are intact. If not, you'll be lucky if it runs.
2. Inside the carburator there is a rubber diapram. Make sure it is not pinched between the housing of the carb and the plastic cover (the one with 4 screws). Otherwise,
the "vaccuum" within the carb will be lost and the choke will not work properly.
Hope this helps.....

Turns out the choke plunger was stuck and it required a new plunger to the tune of $34.00. The dealer thinks it's due to washing, but I don't see how any water would have been able to get inside the cable, let alone run all the way down to the carb?? Now I just need to replace the exhaust gasket and it's ready for the trail!!
