Default New Helmet Advice

Ok, i am a newbie. Just bought a Prairie 650 (love it so far) and we did some trail riding this past weekend. Nothing serious but we had a blast....and this thing will go through some mud lol. Anyway, i am in need of a helmet and have done some looking but still really dont know. Locally i found an M2R model 700 that looked nice. Removable liner, and it had vents in it. What are some good brands and do i need DOT and Snell approval.....one or both or what? Any help would be greatly apprecited. Thanks

Definately DOT. Snell is a more rigorous standard so a snell would be even better. Make sure it fits properly. too loose will not protect well and may fly off, too tight and you will get these god awful headaches. It should be snug that it has slight movement when you try to twist it. My last helmet I went to a show and tried on 9 different models before I decided which felt best.

I am just glad you are planning to wear a helment. My wife rolled her quad over a week ago and she is still off from work. Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and it has a nice crack in it instead of her head. Just go try on as many as possible to find the best fit for what you want to spend.
