Clunking V-Force Tranny
#1
I've noticed from the first day I rode my V-force that if i'm going along and lock up the rear brakes and then let the brake lever go the tranny seems to make kind of a clunking noise. It might just be the nature of the beast having a belt and all, but let me know if this is normal or if I should give Kawasaki a call. Thanks...04 V-Force

I noticed that clunking sound while braking hard going down a rutted hill. I'm not sure what it is. I thought for a minute that I had abs or something I just dismissed it as the nature of the thing.

The gear slack in the 650 causes a slight clacking sound when riding slow over logs. 700 might be similar. Normal sound.
I think when you lock your brakes fast, you cause the driven pulley to stop before the belt gets all the way back out. When you let go, the belt goes out fast and the driven pulley bottoms (compresses all the way). I don't think this hurts it.
