KFX400 Plastic Turning White From Green?
#1
Bought my KFX400 Dec 2002. I now have 3 spots on 3 fenders which are turning white. I know from past experience with plastic once it starts it just gets worse. I just called my dealer service manager and he's going to look into it. If anyone else has seen this let me know!!!!

Saw this on a KFX400 that was wheelied too hard; the back fenders hit and and flexed the plastic, creating white spots. The plastic must be flexing in the whitened areas on your machine.

Yes if you have crashed or bent your plastics in any harsh way they will turn white from the stress marks. I don't have to worry about that

Take a heat gun to them , they will go away ...... Be carefull tho not to get it to hot and warp it... I get them a lot at the rear fender brackets , the heat gun gets rid of them , and when it gets really bad and to much for the heat gun then you can get new ones under warrenty if you have an extended warrenty...

I havent crashed yet. Thats just a matter of time. My dealer called back and asked to look at it. We'll see what he says. I wonder if the flexing while behind the truck at 90, I mean 65 has anything to do with it?

I am curious what the dealer says. I am lookin at a new green monster and would hate for the plastic to get white spots all over.

Well it took 2 weeks and the dealer it bought the KFX from had the service manager contact Kaw. The say its due to impact and I say its not. Kaw says they arent going to warrenty the plastic. I email the Kaw contact that says they wont replace it but he's not responding. I think its his job to "Just Say NO" Anyway my dealer offered to do the heat gun trick and also said they would sell me the plastic and cost

They will replace under warranty but you have to wait till the heat gun trick no longer works , heating it is not making it go away its just hiding it ,
I had to do mine for the forth time and it is getting to the point where its harder to hide , they will warranty it because of the bracket system used
is not in the greatest location . Mine started turning white just from transporting it in the trailer and with the rear fenders flapping in the wind caused it to turn white at the brackets.
Another idea that I have not tried yet is drilling the holes larger at the fender bracket and using a rubber grommet with nut and bolt to absorb allot
of the flexing to reduce the stress of the factory set up . It will be covered under the factory extended warranty as long as the quad doesn't look
like it was rolled or overly beat on.
