Default HELP! PRAIRIE 650 TRANNY??

Guys,
I need some help. My 2002 650 works just fine, except when I put it into low range. When I do this it goes in just fine, but when I get on the gas and let off it grinds and gets kicked in and out of gear. When this happens it is a horrific sound coming from my baby. Has this happened to any of you and if so what should I do?
Thanks,
Jay

Your shifter needs to be adjusted. When the shifter is in the low position the tranny is not quite all the way in low. To test this you can go down a hill or let off the throttle, while forcing your shifter in the lowest most position. To fix it your shifter linkage rod needs to be adjusted shorter.

Yep your shifter need an adjustment.
Remove the tank plastic and look at the shift rod that connects to the bottom of the shifter.
Loosen the nut and shorten the rod so that it pull the transmission farther into low.

Its real easy to do.

Yes knew the feeling well , have tried to adjust mine about 10 times, 4 on saturday. Getting ready for long weakend next weekend. Sounds like its going to tear the heart out of tranny. Got tired of adjusting it and said screw it, it will still have more power in high range then all of the machine's that are going to be there except alltoys. I would sure like to adjust it and get it right. I put a new belt on it so it has a slight squeel for now but idles down to 10 klicks per hour no problem. Will work on it some more at a later date.

I think Nyroc's website addresses this issue and has instructions on how to adjust. This is a common problem and is relatively easy to fix compared to how bad the problem sounds. This is a very fine adjustment so don't over do it.
