OK, i messed w/ this thing for an hour & cant get the nut off. heres what happened, the first part of the primary "broke" slipped over the nut & i cant figure how to keep the thing from turning when i try to take the nut off. I'm i missing something?

I think a impact wrench is very much needed.

Your working on the front clutch or the rear?
Your front outer face (the fixxed face) got broke?

 

yes. it like the hole in the face wallered out & it actually slid over the washer & nut that's supposed to hold it on.

 

WOW!! Never heard of that one before..
There's a good chance that the splines on the crank are damaged.

 

After thinking about it (and looking at a motor) I think the crank will be fine..
I have caught a cpl variators that were cracked before but they was caused by modifications to it.
