Default modify the reed cage?

i have an 87 lt80, head cut .030 to raise compression, no other engine work done, will opening the reed cage do anything positive? or negative to the engine without porting and everything?

if it will be positive, does anyone have a write up on how to do it or where to take off material?

Prolly won't help or hurt.
There is nothing done to raise rpm's thus no reason for more flow.
I hear the boyensen reeds can make a difference. Maybe try those.

i have the boyensen reed already, and had you take the .030 off the head, i was just curious if it would make a difference modding the reed cage, but if its not going to make a difference, then i wont even waste my time lol, i get bored and want to play around with it sometimes lol

running the bike leaner than stock will gain more they're setup too rich from the factory. did you already drop the jet a size?

also may want to look at the plug to see if you're rich on the oil side... I'm gonna go leaner than 32:1 and see how it goes after I get the jetting closer or maybe I should run it rich and fix the oil 1st lol
