LT 80 rebuild issues
#11
1) the float needle hangs on the float tab. If it's hanging, I presume it's correct.
3) boiling the carb has fixxed a few.
5) try the 90 jet. Like mentioned, it's not a power thing but it should run more efficient.
Try putting 2 fingers in front of the carb to hand choke it.
The rings haven't seated yet thus maybe it isn't pulling the fuel in.
Yes, the float is "supposed" to stop the fuel flow. However, it's not perfect.

Well, it does run, it will start without pouring gas down the carb or spark plug hole, by choking it with two fingers like LT80 suggested. Drove it around the block, but it won't run without the choke on, and it doesn't have any power at full throttle. It idles fine, and it still has the stock-size jet.
It seems to me someone else on here had a similar problem so I'll be reading some back threads while I wait for a reply here.

Main Air Jet 2?
Boiled the carb, there were some particles of like brass shavings in the pan... anyway, the Suzuki manual indicates that there is a "Main Air jet 2" that can/should be removed... I can't see down that small hole very well, but it looks to me like there isn't a jet in there...? Anybody else noticed that? I suppose that it must be in there since this carb worked great for several years before I moved it to this engine, but I'd like to remove it so I can ensure it is open. Thanks

LT80, thanks for your reply... yeah, the two jets accessed through the bowl, those are easy enough.
I have the oem LT 80 manual in PDF form, it shows another jet, the "Main Air Jet 2", and it shows it being removed. There are 3 small ports at the bottom of the throat on the 'front' of the carb, where the air filter intake is connected. The port on the left has a brass plug, I don't know what the center port does and the one on the right is the mysterious "Main Air Jet 2".
Anyway, it sounds like you never bother with it, so it doesn't matter. Maybe it only applied to certain few years. Thanks again

Started to put this thing back together. With the black o-ring behind the main jet, the hole appears to be plugged when I tighten down the main jet and it squashes that o-ring.
Have y'all noticed that?
I remember another thread where the fella was saying that he left it out because he didn't have one and it didn't seem to make a difference.
The one I'm using is basically new, but its been removed and re-installed a few times now.
