KFX 80 Broken Gear Case
#1
Good afternoon and thanks for having me. I have read many posts about these casings breaking, but the guy that welds for me said he could weld it, but it would jeopardize the integrity of the metal around it from heating it up. Does anyone have a spare case they would sell or point me in the right direction to get this fixed. Thank you in advance for all your help, and great these forums are available and resourceful.

I thought Jack would have been on here by now, he knows all about the faults an LT80 is prone to. Not sure the strength of an alloy casting is weakened by welding, but it is usually done by TIG now so is a bit of a specialist job. I also think I read somewhere that you can strengthen the assembly up after it has been welded. Again Jack will be the one who knows if this is true and what to do. A few years back there were lots of LT80s being broken. Now prices, here in the UK anyway, have shot up to about what they were for a new one so people are no longer scrapping them.

I am looking for a replacement case now, but cannot find any online. Thats why I was hoping someone would say they had a reserve one or one from a broken quad? At this point any help is appreciated, The welder said it is cracked in so many places he is afraid I would just be wasting money, which I appreciated, but he said if I could find another cracked case, he would cut it and replace it with the original one as long as it wasn't worse then mine.

I've seen a few of these. lol
That case is indeed no good, and piecing one together prolly isn't too good.
Keep looking for cases. New cases from Suzuki are not available anymore.
