Raptor 80 vs lt 80 vs trx 90
An 80 cc 2 stroke will rev a lot quicker, and being belt drive, gets the power to the ground quicker, so off the line I would say the LT80 is faster, the Honda would probably catch or pass it on a long straight away. The Yamaha 80 with a heavier shaft drive system, while a good little quad, would not be able to keep up as well. Mod wise, you can Make an LT80 scream with a little porting, clutch mods and minor engine work. I had one, and did very minor mods (reed cage, pipe, clutch) and my son could spin the tires all the way up a hill, plus it was very peppy on the trails. The Honda is very solid, and larger, so it will fit bigger riders and not get outgrown so fast. The Raptor 80 is just the Badger with new plastic, that solid beam front is not a very good ride, and it is a little low on the power with an auto clutch and a 4 stroke shaft drive motor. All can take small jumps, but with about 2.5 inches of suspension, you will bounce a little. The new Pred 90 is supposed to have 4 or 4.5 inches, you may want to look that one over, too. But of your 3, I rank them LT80, Honda 90, Raptor 80 , and it is a very close rank for the LT and Honda.

I have bought my kids both an Yamaha Badger and an Susuki lt80. I believe they both have their good points and bad. The worst of both is the suspension. Both ride terrible with them, and harsh with my fat butt!! In an drag race, the LT just about always gets going first. In top speed, they are just about equal. In the woods, they both surprise me. I know alot of it is the riders, but both of them handle the woods better than I ever dreamed! I think were going to let them try flat track racing at the fair this year, in which I believe the badger will have a little advantage. (have to wait and see) Right now, If nothing changes my mind, we will probably sell the badger sometime soon, and moving my oldest boy up to something alittle bigger. (scarest thing I've thought about in a while, but he's ready) The boys both like the LT more. Just keep your eyes on them and have fun!!

I agree with 95wolv except to say this:
If you are interested in trail riding it will be #1 TRX90. #2 LT80 amd #3 Raptor 80. With 4 stroke low end power on the Honda, it's a clear winner for low speed technical trail riding. Also, as the TRX has an auto-shift 4 speed transmission, you get the benefit of engine braking on the downhills.
Now if you're looking for a track racer and mods, then the LT comes out on top.

My daughter just raced her LT 80 on a mx track about two weeks ago against the honda 90. both had pipes and reeds on them and the LT 80 had just a little more power, the track was really long and had lots of straits so it would of been a fair drag in the straits, it also depends on the rider!

I just got rid of my daughters 2001 LT 80 and replaced it with the 06' TRX 90. I just could not get the LT80 to wake up.. I put a DG pipe, Reeds and Uni Air Filter and it was still a dog... I Don't really want to get into heavy eng mods that put dependability at risk... The new TRX 90 out of the box is faster, handles better and with the 4 speed transmission you cannot go wrong... I have yet to do any mods and the bike is faster than the LT80 with its light mods.... I am just waiting to find out what pipe and accessories work on the 06 and I will set it up.... If you guys have any thoughts on the best pipe out there please let me know !!

My 2 cents
I agree with 95 wolv.
I'll add to that a lil.
All are great machines in stock form. And debatedly close in speed with each other.
Modding and uses can make one better than the other in different ways.
Seeins you asked, I'll ramble on. I will be talking modded motors, suspensions, etc.
Raptor 80: Not an option. No offence to R-80 owners, but I think they know they have a anti-mod machine.
TRX: The jumper. Best stock and aftermarket suspension. A good trail machine. To mod the motor you will spend approx 3 times more and reliability suffers. It is comparable in speed. A rider that can shift will excell with this quad
LT:My choice on winning the off the line and drag race, but buy inches. Not a great jumper because of the motor/swingarm design. I have had riders do doubles w/o breaking but a great risk is obvious. Suspension parts are limited to shocks or the weekend engineer.A rider that understands "smooth" will excell with this machine. This motor takes the least amount of money to mod and retains reliability.A excellent flat track machine and good on the trails.
Mr. Webone made the mistake of many. No offence intended Mr. Webone I do respect your opinion. Big machine theorys usually don't apply to the LT.
A pipe will help the TRX alot, but most pipes do not mean a speed increase on the LT.A better filtering air filter may not flow as much air as a stock filter. The reed (boyensen) is said to help low end. If he would have geared up a cpl teeth in the front I feel his speed problem may have gone away.

LT80...
It is very funny, because when I did these mods 2 years ago (Pipe/Air Filter/Reeds) you actually told me then that it was a mistake because the factory pipe and air setup was better... I really have to think that I bought a lemmon, because I have seen many "big" guys at Glammis with paddles on LT 80s and they fly... I just never to get this to rock... I even bought the "speed set up with the 2 sprokets and awsome chain... but out of the hole it was a dog... Short of pulling the motor out and sending it away to someone to build , I felt optionless..... I actually just sold it and got her the 06 TRX 90... I took the rubber gasket out of ther snorkle and replaced the throttle screw... And this little bike rocks !!! I am completely blown away..... And I have not even cut the pink rev limiter wire yet... Do you have any thoughts on the best pipe for this bike ??? Everybody says the th Big Gun is the one, what do you think ???
Thanks,
Webb
