Thumb throttle to Twist ??
#1
Was wondering if there were any kits available where you can convert the thumb throttle to a twist throttle for a predator 90.
My boy was suffering from some serious thumb fatigue yesterday.
Cheers

It can be done, but most people don't recommend it.
Young, inexperienced riders tend to hold the throttle open at the worst times!! Also, any sudden bumps or jolts can lead to inappropriate acceleration!!
My 7 year old daughter took almost two months of weekend riding before she quit complaining about her thumb/hand getting sore. Now she rides with the best of them! It just takes getting their hand used to it, and maybe building up a little muscle that they have never used before.

The Thumb Control on the Pred-90 can be replaced with a Twist Throttle but.....
1 - You also have to replaced the front brake level control mechanism.
2 - You also have to replace / change the Rev Limitor unit.
3 - You have to consider the safety risks.
4 - etc. etc.
As you can tell, I did lots of research in replacing my 8 year old son's Pred-90 with a Twist Throttle Control. I even investigated Thumb Control Lever Extenders. After 3 months of research and lots of long distance phone calls, my son told me NOT to worry about it anymore. Today (that's approx 5 months since we purchased a unit for him), my son stopped complaining about the stiffness of the factory thumb control. We now go riding for 4 - 6 hours at a time and he does great on the factory unit....
If you still want to remove some more stiffness from the thumb control, you could remove the factory Oil Injection system. I've read that removing it could reduce the stiffness by 50%. If you do that, you'll then have to mix you gas at 32:1, and "may" have to reject its carb. Nevertheless, this is one way to remove the stiffness "if" you are performing lots of other mods to your mini.
Hope this helps...
