Good Choice for the youngsters

I have a 9 yr old daughter and a 7 yr old son that need some wheels. What is a good size quad from them. I'm thinking about a LT80 with the magic button and auto clutch. Any thoughts?

Were I in your shoes, I would not go with the LT-80, unless you want to sell it in a couple years. I would look at the LRX/Kasea 90 same bike different plastic. They also have the "magic button" and the auto clutch. They have better suspension, a world of upgrades, and are priced considerably less. You can pick one up for way under $2,000. I know of a guy who can get the LRX for even less. East County Motorcross has them if you want to take a look. If you want the cheaper way to go, just let me know.

I looked at some older posts on this subject and most talked about that same quad. I'm one of those guys that like to purchase either a Honda, Yamaha, etc so I'm able to get parts and/or service about anywhere. I haven't seen one of these but should take a closer look at them.
Are parts a problem? I'll have to check for some local dealers here in San Diego. Thanks!

Dealers will not keep many parts in stock for any of the minis. There are great resources out there for parts though. Hetrick Racing in PA has just about every part in stock for the Kasea/LRX as do numerous others, quicker than ordering from the dealer and cheaper too. I would definitely go check out the off brands, the big three do a great job with the bigger quads, but are seriously lacking when it comes to the minis. If you want to stay with the big guys then the LT80 is the way to go. The Raptor has not gotten good reviews, and the Honda is manual with a pull start. Good luck!

Mini's are mini's and all have pro's and cons.
I presume you will be going to the dunes. You do NOT want the 4 stroke out there.
Stick with the proven LT80 or Kasea/LRX
Both can be built to go fast. The LT80 is cheaper to build.

You need speed and power in the sand. You can produce more power from the same displacement with a 2 stroke. That is why 2 strokes ruled the dunes until the displacement on the 4s got bigger(400cc and bigger). I did not want to get a 2 stroke either, but after having one and seeing what they are capable of that is all I would get the little guy until he can fit on a 400. We just put a pipe and clutch kit on the neighbors 90, and it is amazing how much faster that thing is now. LT80 is correct that the LT80 is cheaper to build, it also will hold its value more over time. Slightly modified 90's (pipe, clutch, jet and air filter) will go through the big dunes no problem (same with the LT80). You will learn a ton from this and other forums as to what these things are capable of.

Thanks for the links. I just returned from my local Kasea dealer and they only one 170 and two 250's in stock. No 90's like I wanted to look at. Here's the problem I have in the back of my head and the reason why.
They told me they were dropping the line and getting out of selling bikes and quads together and just focus on accessories. That fact would make it harder to find parts for this line. The 170 looked pretty cool and was a nice size for my kids but the after the sale service/parts issues is hard for me to get past.
