To be honest I think a 50cc is more appropriate. I understand the lil dude has better than most quad knowledge, but my opinion remains the same. I speak from expierience in this area.
My 2 cents

The 50cc e-ton Viper is an impressive little machine. It should be more than adequate for your 4 year old and it can be made to go as fast as a 90 with some mods when he is old enough to handle the extra speed.Apparently there is a new smaller sized 50 cc model for this year and a 70cc model that is all new for this year (2005) that takes the place of the 2004 and earlier 50cc Viper.

I actually wish I would have purchased the 90 from the beginning. You can leave the restrictors in place, put on smaller tires, and teach him the proper riding techniques. You may want to consider a quad with a foot brake as well. That is the preferred method of stopping for my son, and I am not so sure he would be able to stop as well without it (his friend he ride swith does not have a footbrake and he rarely uses brakes, a little scary at times). At that age it is difficult for them to get used to grabbing for the handbrake, but it is easy for them to push down with the foot. More $.02

I bought a used LT80 for my daughter, but she was much closer to 5 than 4 yrs. old. She had a lot of seat time on the eletric toys, and some seat time on an old atc 70. In the beginning, I screwed the throttle limiter pretty far in so that she would't hurt herself. I agree like 2gordons said, my daughter's first instinct is to go for the foot brake before the hand brake.

I was reading and it sounds like these people work for Eton! I have been in the cycle business for a good 7 yrs now and have been raised with just about every type of cycle from ditr to street. Anyway I really from my heart would never put my child on an Eton ..They are taiwanese built gumball machine type quads. Hard to get parts (friend of mine cant even get a new gas cap for his Rascal 50.. They Hate that quad... Resale stinks on them and you are much better off to stay with a japanese model or main manufacturer.. This is no B.S. either Every dealership I have worked for will NOT take one on trade or even bring one into service... Also Polaris and Bombardier youth models are the same junk.. Email me if you have any questions.. Think about putting your 16 yr old daughter or son in a YUGO instead of a Chevy or Ford etc.. The build quality is no good and that in my eyes would reflect not safe either

Toofast - You obviously do not know enough about these quads to be offering an opinion. Look at the race tracks in your area and see what brands of quads are dominating the mini races, that should tell you what the good minis are. Go ahead and drink the Cool Aid that the big three are offering on their youth quads and keep fooling yourself, but don't give someone who is looking for a good quality quad for their child a bunch of crap.

Well reguardless of what brand name quad you choose, I would
stay away from the 50cc atv. Actually the 70/90cc atv that Traxterman
mentiones sounds perfect, with the 7 cdi settings.
my daughter has the Polaris 90cc sportsman and i have the cdi jumper
installed and the throttle limiter screwed all the way in on hers,
because she isnt ready to go any faster, she scoots along at her
own pace in the yard, or where ever we go riding getting better
and better. When the time comes I will let out the throttle limiter
and remove the jumper on the CDI...

In response to "toofasts" comments about us all working or selling E-tons I don't do either. I'm just a happy customer who has seen a lot of these bikes race with no problems at all.The dealer that I bought our bike from puts on an atv racing series and a lot of the 50cc and 90cc bikes are Vipers although there are lots of other brands as well.I haven't seen a failure of any kind on the E-tons and actually very few problems of any kind on any brand.I say compare the features of the E-ton against any of the others. It is no taiwanese piece of junk.Actually the big three's mini's are lagging behind if anything. We also do lots of trailriding and we've had zero problems.
