The main thing to remember about Kids riding quads is 1) never start them out on a machine they cant handle. all machines whether it be a 50 or 80 or 90 have restrictor devices that can be set for a safe speed for that particular rider. 2) we started our 34 month year old on a 50 with me on the back . In a couple of months he was able to steer and brake by himself. mind you most of this riding was done at a slow speed and in the sand. Now that he is almost 4 he hates his 50 cause its too slow in the sand and subsequently always gets stuck even at the slightest of inclines. So we are purchasing an 80 just like his 5 year old brothers who also learned on the 50 and has done very well on the 80. When we go riding they always where gloves, helmets, goggles and pants. and on all rides they follow me and we practice braking, turning etc: . Its true, you cant watch them at all times but by being cautious you can prevent 99% of all those scarry moments for the kids. My recomendation is if your 6 year old is going to be riding mostly in the sand , dont buy a 50. buy an 80 or 90 and restrict her speed until shes very good at all aspects of riding. If its mostly trail riding then the 50 is plenty of quad for at least a couple years.

I was just going to write the same thing that my dad wrote (chrispapy). He grew out of his 50 and a 80 seems right. You may think hes too young but on the other hand you havent seen how good he does on the 50.
Back to the original topic. Dad the 80 is running good. It was the throttle cable. I didnt put it in right. Kevin knew what i did right away and within 2 minutes it was fixed.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will probably buy her a LT80. I dont know if I should spend the money on a New one incase she doesnt like to ride on her own. She says thats ALL she wantes for her birthday, but If she's anythiing like her mother(and she is) she may change her mind after the first ride.LOL. The LT80s seem to be pretty hard to find used though. So I dont know, But I will buy something with in the next month for sure. I want to get it "personallize" for her before her B-bay. Maybe some custome SpoungBOB Square pants stickers!! LOL.

Lt80 should be good for her. My youngest were 5 (boy) and 6 (girl) when I got theirs (just turned 6 and 7). Also have a 9 y/o daughter who rides it. 9 y/o is average H&W for her age, and seems a little big for it though. The restrictors were taken out by the dealer. The throttle limiter made it very easy to get them familar with it and start out safely. They both can handle it really well now and have a blast on it. I would strongly suggest widening it out though, it is pretty narrow and tippy. There are various ways to do that. FRONT > either wheel spacers or extender for the A-arms. REAR > Wider durablue axle (spendy), wheel spacers, wider tires. Other options are reversing the wheels. Serach through here and there are topics on this issue.
New or Used???? If you think she will ride it for a few years and have younger kids that will use it, I would honestly just get a new one. If she will only ride for a couple years B4 upgrading, try to find a good used one. If you buy a used one, the resale will be better I think. If she is tall for her age, she may also physically outgrow it in a couple years.
Good Luck
