Default LT80 Porting & Polishing

We have started the mods on our LT 80. We installed Boysen reed,FMF fatty( I'm hanging on to the stock pipe) Douglas wheels w/18x9..5 Turf Tamers on rear 20x7 in front. Jetted carb down to a 90. I took 5grams off each rear shoe I was scared to go 30grams but I'm not anymore. The rollers have been changed. I put all (6) back in and replaced the piston rings. I have the engine on the work bench now and I'm ready to open it up some. After finishing third with a dinli (?) a wheel out front of us and a extreme on our tail... I think these other two started as 90cc. We are ready to put the Suzuki out front. We are the only Suzuki out there. Why??? I've read the post from LT80 about blending the bottom of the reed cage and the camel humps on top but I also want to port and polish the head. Can anybody show me what they should look like after this is done. I'd rather have LT80 do it but I'm in Georgia with two weeks until our next race.

Thanks to all

I don't know if this will help, but you can try http://www.macdizzy.com/eltee.htm

It seems most are not willing to share porting secrets, and thats about the most I could find. I have a spare jug that needs a new sleeve and I would love to try exactly what this guy has done. (big bore and porting) I just can't afford to spend a fortune on this thing just to trail ride. I have 1 son that has allready out grown it and the other won't take much longer till he'll be cramped on it.
Good luck !!

Thanks for the info. I have a little one ready to ride after Andrew so I have 3 to 5 yrs left with our 01. It's held up great so far and has responded to the mods. I will stick with Suzuki till the end.

Thanks again
Mark

I know what you mean about being the only Suzuki. We have about identical machines. I have done .20 piston, FMF fatty, 18" Turf Tamers, Boyesen reeds, uni filter, front wheel spacers. This morning I ordered a full set of Works shocks. It seems as if the Extreme's, Dinli's, Alphas, and Kaseas are the big thing, and a few Hondas. I want to get more done with the engine, but kinda low on $$$ and time. I need to get the clutch rollers done, hopefully next week.

Hey voodoo. How does your lt corner. I have the wheel spacers on the front with offset wheels with shredders on the rear. It doesn't really whip the end around when you gas it. It just kinda pushes in the corners. It seems to do better in the sand though. I have 6 paddle gliders for the sand. Any thoughts? This machine amazes me every time we ride on what it will climb. Truly unbelieveable.

As far as cornering my son seems much happier since I put on the wheel spacers. I have also flipped the wheels to get it as wide as possible. I'm sure it's only gonna get better once I get the suspension done. I know on the track if he gets in the throttle hard he actually powerslides quite nice.

what special tools are required (if any) to do the clutch rollers? I have the manual but is it possible to do this with your average tools, or are special tools required? Now you say about taking 5 grams off of each shoe. Do you replace the shoes with lighter ones? Or how is this done? Also do they make stiffer springs to increase stall speed. I know with sleds you install stiffer springs for better holeshots.

thanks for any help

The rollers are fairly easy to do. Remove the cover, take the front clutch off and open the back of it up. Ours was hard to get off the crank so I used a puller to get it off. (very carefully) Other than that no special tools. I don't know what it takes to do the shoe lighting. (they are in the back clutch)

I used a zizs wheels to take the weight off mine. I only took 5grams off each shoe the first time around but I'm going to take them down to 175grams each per LT80. They have to be exactly the same weight when complete from what I'm told to keep them engaged equally. I was scared to go into the clutch the first time around but now I remove and inspect it after every race. They are some kind of soft metal its easy to remove weight.

It sounds like identical atv's. I dropped off my head today. How much did the shocks cost? I'd love to have a set but can't do it right now. The clutch is pretty easy once you do it. A screw driver between the starter and flywheel will hold the engine so you could loosen the the nuts.
