We need some suggestions for getting more top end from our son's lt80. We are trying to change the gearing by putting a 14 T front sprocket on but having trouble with the chain. (87 LT). Also I've been hearing alot about taking rollers out of the clutch and then I hear drilling them out and putting them back in is the way to go. Does anyone know which is better. All we have done is FMF fatty pipe and silencer, wheel spacers with turf tamers on rear and holeshots on front, it's been ported, have uni airfilter and waiting for reed's but they are on back order. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!!

Here's a speed kit from MidwestMini on ebay right now. It's supposed to help on top end quite a bit.

#1- your machine may be ported, but by whom and if they live for LT80's is the key.
#2- The FMF is the absolute worst pipe on the market for a ported machine. It may be OK for a stock motor, but falls off way to fast on a ported motor.Your stock LT80 pipe is a good pipe. It will sustain 9800 rpms, that is depending on the porting.
Lets see if I'm corect~~ your rocketing out of the hole for 30 feet. The motor sounds like it's running fast, but your not going fast. Right?

Clutch work isn't the problem and won't cure it. Clutch work is a must, but the guy porting should be able to help you there.
My 82cc ~stock bore LT80 motor will beat a 105. Nuff said on that.
Put the stock pipe back on and see what it does, then up date for us.
