Default Front Brake Adjustment

Hello All Need your advise. I have a 03 eton 90. I have adjusted the front brakes at the lever all most all the way out, so I thought I needed new shoes, well I took the front drums off and the shoes look ok. Compared the old shoes with the new and can't see any wear differance betwen them. Is there anything I'm over looking ? The bike stops ok but am running out of adjustment. Could the cable be streched to far? Thanks for you help.

Bit of a long shot but I'm wondering if the drums are worn? You could always turn the little arms back on the splines right at the hubs to give you your adjustment back but if the cables have stretched that much they might be ready to break.

I've ALWAYS adjusted my brakes the way old yeller described, move the arm back 1 spot on the spline. you'll probably get 2-3 spline adjustments, plus the cable adjustments between each spline adjustment. this way you get to use up all the brake shoes material. I think it's cuz the brake cam doesn't open that much relative to the cable, so you have to do that to get the wear out of the shoes.each spline adjustment opens the cam a little more. I don't think your brake cable is stretched at all. BTW, on my yamaha and Suzuki, I NEVER had a brake cable snap because of this.

my best guess is the shoe material may be poor. many have said the off-shores use a material almost like MDF or particle board.
